GK- Hugo Lloris
What more can be said about the Spurs and France captain, that hasn't already been said. This year he has led Spurs to their highest Premier League finish and led his country to the Uefa Euro Final only succumbing to Portugal in extra-time. His ability to perform the impossible and his ability to keep his team in the game show that he has class which can be matched by a chosen few.
RB- Dani Carvajal
Being one of the squad at Real Madrid, means that you have to perform well consistently, otherwise you will be replaced straight away especially under new boss Zidane. Carvajal has been first choice right back at Madrid for a while now and is very assured in his defensive ability. He allows the midfielders and Bale down his side the freedom to focus on their job. Another Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup sweetened the year for Carvajal.
CB- Toby Alderweireld
A revelation In the Spurs backline, alongside former Ajax team mate and fellow Belgian Jan Vertonghen. Alderweireld has made the backline so much more solid and being effective at the other end of the pitch as well by scoring four times in the league. He has an excellent range of passing, setting up attacks from the back and on occasion setting up a blinder of a goal for Dele Alli twice.
CB- Leonardo Bonucci
Bonucci was the surprise package for Italy at the Euros this year. Alongside Chiellini and Barzagli at both club and international level, he put in man of the match performances in the big games at the Euros and helped with a worldie of an assist for Giaccherini's opener against Belgium and scored the equaliser from the spot against Germany.
LB- David Alaba
The Austrian had a poor Euro's being knocked out at the group stage but still had success with his club side Bayern Munich. His ability when going forward is excellent but he has the defensive ability to back himself up with and also has the ability to play in a back three which Bayern have experimented with in the past to success.
CM- Renato Sanches
The youngster burst onto the scene this season at Benfica and was an easy pick in the Euro squad. His ability to be a box to box player is something that Bayern needed. Sanches had an excellent Euro's and was rewarded with a splendid equaliser in the Quarter-finals against Poland. By winning the Euro's with Portugal it sets him up nicely for the winning of trophies with Bayern.
CM- N'golo Kante
Kante was possibly one of best signings from the French league in recent seasons. One of the unsung heroes of the Leicester miracle squad. His ability to break up opposition attacks and start counters is excellent. since his move to Chelsea, he has changed their fortunes and been the difference maker from last season to this one.
CM- Arturo Vidal
Vidal proved to be another vital piece in the Bayern midfield as they eased to the league again. He was also a great part of Chile's team at the Copa America in which they won their second title. He is an excellent box to box player who can break up attacks as well as launching them.
RW- Gareth Bale
Bale had an amazing year at both club and international level. He won another countless amount of trophies. He made his name more this year was with the national team. He was the leading figure of Wales' remarkable Uefa Euro campaign. His pure pace is still frightening and his ability in front of goal is incredible. The most outstanding part of his game is his free-kicks and his long range shooting.
Lewandowski as well had a successful season at club level and a moderate one on the international. He had an excellent scoring record and is now the second highest scoring foreign player behind Claudio Pizarro. He captained Poland to a unprecedented quarter final place at the Euros in the summer but will be disappointed in the fact he only scored on one occasion in the tournament.
LW- Antoine Greizmann
The Frenchman had an excellent year scoring 32 goals in all competitions for Atletico Madrid. He really excelled himself at the Euros being the most prolific scorer for the hosts and doubled the goal scoring feats with six goals. He will be looking to push on in the new year to get him up to the levels of the old Atletico alumni.
